Associate Art Director Overview A designer who has the skills and experience to lead, direct, and
work with others to create innovative design solutions. Works closely with
project management and team to produce a design that communicates the story and
content- direction of the project. Duties/Responsibilities Conceives and develops visual
aesthetic of attraction/project. Produces sketches and imagery
to direct design development Works closely with development
of floor plans and flow/function of the space. Critiques and corrects architectural
drawings to adhere to creative and artistic intent. Additional tasks as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills Excellent verbal communication
skills. Fluent English & Mandarin. Understanding of environments,
perspective, scale and color. Strong design communication
skills. Ability to read and critique
architectural design drawings. Ability to multi-task as well
as focus when needed. Can work both in analog and
digital design mediums. Ability to work well in a team
environment and interface with different departments. Ability to multi-task in a
creative open office environment and is detailed oriented, adaptable and meet
stringent deadlines with a “do what it takes” attitude. Highly ethical with an ability
to maintain information confidentially. Ability to prioritize work
assignments and focus on most critical tasks. Ability to work independently
and to use common sense and sound judgment to complete assignments in a timely
manner. Have the ability to work both
independently and as a team player.
Minimum
Job Requirements College degree preferred. 1-5 years experience in related
field (i.e. theme park, film, museum, television, theater). Strong understanding of spatial
composition and show design principles.
Criteria
for Levels within the Art Director Position
Associate – meets all the criteria listed above
Preferably has experience getting things
built or actualized beyond concept illustrations. Has either a strong sense of illustrative
design, or spatial design (preferably both), with the intention developing both
skill sets. Demonstrates a potential for leadership
ability.
Skilled - meets all the criteria listed in Associate level, and: 5+ years of relevant experience Ability to plan and communicate
dimensional space (e.g. plan, elevation, and orthogonal projection) Ability to communicate the
aesthetic direction for the design. Familiarity with traditional
drawing, sketching, and model-making Familiarity with contemporary
methods such as: CG-models, photo reference + illustration Understands concepts of story,
critical analysis of script, plot and character. Management abilities include:
directing designers and illustrators, scheduling and budgeting the design
